Okay! Game Friends!

Let's hang out and make games or whatnot, say next Wednesday or Thursday (April 25?)

Date
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18 (today!) AT 6:00PM ISH

Venue
EAU CLAIRE FOOD COURT
We can hang there at the food court tables, or else there are comfy chairs depending on how many chairs are available. Eau Claire has free wifi!

Who:
Sounds like there are going to be 7 of us! woo!

What We Do
We could grab beer after, I think it would be fun to show off our games. Sheldon I don't think has seen KRUNCH at all!! And I haven't seen it for a long time. I can show off some stuff I'm working on, too.

See you there!

I'm sure Vieko and I are in. Wednesday works better for me and I probably have to be up in the NW so we can meet somewhere closer to your place Calvin. Let me know what works for you gents.

Wednesday up in the NW would be awesome for me, I'm not sure where would be a good place. Maybe Market Mall or something has WiFi? I'll think about it, also ACAD or UofC might be a possibility (Derek and/or Sheldon might know about that.)

Ahhhh, sad that I missed this. Derek just told me about it. I was off the grid for a few days so I didn't get the memo. :^(

Sheldon do not worry! It was fun but we mostly talked about which was our favorite My Little Pony.

We'll do this again, before too long! =) Derek was saying we could do it at ACAD cafeteria, which has free wi-fi.

Wow, you're based in Calgary? Awesome, I'm in Medicine Hat.

The Real Texas looks quite cool.. I have to wonder from the name, Kitty Lambda.. you wouldn't be a functional programming aficionado, would you?

Yeah, it's cool. I can say this now that I've played it. Reminds me a little of Twinsen's Odyssey, and I see the Earthbound comparisons are also warranted.

Great work.

Thank you! =)

To answer your earlier question, I'm not actually a huge functional programming language afficianado HOWEVER I do like functional definitions of things, as well as many of the nicities in functional languages (e.g., closures.) I hope that makes sense, I'm far from any kind of expert.

I've tried at least once to really work with a functional language (haskell) but couldn't really make it happen for me :)

I see. I'm interested in game programming in Haskell, especially since Haskell is all about immutability and statelessness, and a game is basically one huge glob of state. I think that would teach me a ton. C is good too, of course, and these days I'm viewing C++ as more a leaky, disgusting abomination than the powerful and sexy thing I took it to be when I first learnt it.

Beyond the technical side, I'm interested in games as art too, of course.. wouldn't mind showing up at one of your meet ups, if I'm around.
