...and I gassed up his car and ended up where you get the green key. I have said key... and there doesn't seem to be anything left to interact with. Have talked to all available parties about a wide variety of topics, and am now worried I needed to bring something in with me that I didn't.

What do I need to do to get things moving again?

Never mind, I got it (and feel silly; I swear the first time I tried it it said "You are not sure where to drive.")

Hey there, I dunno if I missed something but I just got the emerald key from big bad wolf, talked to the guys at the camp, searched the dead guy that wrote the clues, saw the bath tub and the clue chest and then somehow the car keeps telling me, "you aren't really sure where you're headed".

It must be a bug cause there's nothing else I can do, unless I really did miss something?
Charles isn't by the car anymore if that helps :/

You might need to save, quit out of the game and restart it. I've encountered a similar bug with the car and with some of the quests in the castle.

Ooops sorry, I forgot to mention that I have saved and quitted the game with no luck and Im on v1.2 on a mac.

Oh and if I remember correctly, the game did crash when I had just spoke to one of the guys at the camp. My course of action after arriving with Charles was, going around to explore the area. I found the dead body which I took his clothes, then the chest, and then finally before knowing about big bad wolf I spoke to one of the guys in the camp and then the game crashed.

Dunno if that helps but thought I'd write it in anyways.
