There are no reviews for TRT. What's wrong? You should pester Mr. TotalBiscuit for a "WTF is The Real Texas". :D

A TotalBiscuit "WTF is The Real Texas" would generate quite a few sales, actually. If it's positive, I think it would also really help gain acceptance by Steam. I don't know how one gets WTFed, but a review copy can't hurt, perhaps?

Ah, TotalBiscuit is a great idea! I'll contact him right now.

I just sent another round of press releases. I'm going to send more tomorrow as well.

I did send them out when the game was first released but I think the press release I sent then was maybe lost in the shuffle, partly due to it being Friday. Anyhow I think TotalBiscuit would be a great person to contact =)

The main character is named Sam? Where is that mentioned?

Also that reviewer stinks at the combat

He said he had "hundreds of quick deaths" which means he is terrible, even if he is exaggerating. The combat just isn't that hard. The cattle prod bandits are probably the hardest non-boss enemies in the game

This was an awesome review! But if you haven't beat the game (but have already bought it) I'd recommend to not read it until you are done. Still... man! This makes me soooo happy, and the reviewer clearly "got" the game =)

Another great review today (July 3) on Indie Gaming Magazine:

http://www.indiegamemag.com/the-real-texas-review/

There was another really positive review on destructoid yesterday:

http://www.destructoid.com/review-the-r ... 0375.phtml

There was also one on moonbooks.net:

http://moonbooks.net/review/the-real-texas-review/

There's a German-language review here (the comments section HAS POETRY GOING ON! WHAT!? Are all German gaming sites this cool?):

http://superlevel.de/spiele/the-real-texas

A Russian one here (Google translate says at one part, "Looks Cheezy but Taste Great" hahaha)

http://gamin.ru/blog/reviews/8484

And the FIRST review I found which gave it 5/10 and said the humour writing was sophomoric is here:

http://www.gamer.nl/review/330615/the-real-texas

(Disclaimer: I sure wasn't linking anybody to that first review but I don't really think it's fair, doesn't sound like they got very far either-- however, there IS a 3 page impassioned defence of the game in the comments section which warms the cockels of my heart!)

As a dev I definitely don't mind hearing what reviewers didn't like about the game! The nightmare mode reviewer had some trouble with combat, and I think the critique is valid (there is an item that might have changed his impressions, but the item itself really ought to be optional.)

A lot of people weren't so sure about the combat and there are still some things that could probably be fixed that I may still try to do (mainly, making so enemies cant jank you as soon as you enter the screen.) Anyhow those are my thoughts!

It's really cool reading reviews for the game. I should add that one reason probably that it took reviewers awhile to get the reviews out is that I didn't send prerelease versions or anything like that to anybody. Reviewing games I think must be a lot of work, even if fun, and also involve scheduling time in to get to the games you want to get to. So I really do appreciate all the in depth reviews that have come out the last few days.

Bump! There was another review today, on Indie Gaming Magazine. 82%!

http://www.indiegamemag.com/the-real-texas-review/

I am going to just keep adding reviews to my post above. Eventually I'll quote these on the actual game page.

As in nearly every review for TRT, the combat get's mentioned for beeing a bit on the weak side. I think the combat mechanics are too different for each enemy in TRT and the moving/cancel targeting thing is another weird choice.
It's not streamlined (please note, i do not mean dumbed down) enough to give the player a more or less smooth progress curve. I mentioned it earlier, the ability to move while targeting should fix many issues with combat.

Otherwise the reviews shows, that you accomplished something different with TRT. Congratulation! :) It's not the usual indie game.
